Important Reminder: Submission of WSP/ATR by companies before 30 April 2018

All companies with payroll of more than R500 000 per annum must contribute 1% of the total salary as a skills levy to comply with the Skills Development Levies Act. These levies are then distributed by the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) back as a grant to employers who submit the WSPs.

The deadline is upon us. All Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR) are due by the 30th April 2018.

Failure to do this will result in nil scoring on Skills Development as this is now a strict requirement for the New BBBEE Codes. The minimum 40% of points within this element must be scored in order to avoid dropping a level.  Companies can only score points on Skills Development if there is evidence indicating that black people are being trained in scarce and critical skills.
